I need to purchase an insulated screwdriver set. I am torn between Wiha and Witte. I have used Matco (rebranded Witte) stuff before and like them, but people seem to recommend Wiha the most. I am assuming thats because they are slightly cheaper and a little easier to come by. Who has either and what would you get if you were repurchasing? Or something else completely?

Love my Wiha insulated set so much I replaced my Craftsman Pro / SK screwdrivers with more Wiha. So far, everything has been outstanding quality. My only complaint is that some of the handles on the larger sized drivers get somewhat excessively oversized.

I vote wiha. I tried all the german brands and liked wiha the best.

Wiha or Wera would get my vote. I find both to be well built and comfortable. Wera handles can be a bit small for large hands but that also makes them usable in cramped spaces. You wont go wrong with either though. If you can get a deal on them its a no brainer. You'll be happy with whichever I'm sure.

Depends on your need!

Most firms offering screwdrivers offer some sort of plastic handled driver with a sleeved blade, but that doesn't always cut it!

In the U.K, if you are going to be working commercially on 'live lines' then the tools need to meet a very high spec. Although a lot of brands offer them, most are manufactured either by ITL in the U.K, or I believe, by a German firm!

If I was going to be touching any live circuits I'd seek these out, even if it is overkill for 110 volts!

If I wanted generic 'insulated' I'd probably go for PB Swiss, Wiha second choice!

Op why do you need insulated screwdrivers. Working hot is frowned upon by OSHA. Unless a laundry list of precautions are taken. But we all know that. Just curious why you need them

I'm a Wiha guy myself, but if we're talking strictly insulated drivers, I prefer Witte. I have both Wiha and Witte and they are both pretty nice, except the Wiha No. 2 driver doesn't fit as well as the Witte driver. I also find the handles to be quite small even with my smaller hands. Take it for what you week, but if I were in the market for a new set, I would spring for the Witte.

I am mainly dealing with lower voltage, on industrial controls/sensors. For one I want a set of metric blades. For two I want some extra piece of mind. I'm not playing with line voltage in cabinets though. Good suggestions, still unsure which way to go.
