Finally started ceiling insulating . I have 23.5 inch wide by 39 ft long kraft faced batts . I cut them 8 and 8'11" to reach the peak 20 ft up. My issue is trying to keep batt in place . Starting on the eave side worked pretty well shoving batt in ad staying in place. Until the next batt going up wants to fall out . I watched a vid and shows them cutting 4 ft batts , seemed like it was more manageable . Or do i need to string something across the truss temporarily to hold the longer pieces in place ? Any suggestions, trying to do the safest way possible i'm up on a scaffold with step ladder to reach the top part of the cathedral . Ideally a scissor lift would be the way to go , that's not an option. I only have one bay to do ,not the whole 32x50 . Thanks for any suggestions . Don

Sure do but batt wont stay up well enough to staple . Need both hands to hold batt up in position then the back half of batt flops down on top of me . Need to figure how to keep back half up so i can pull and staple the batt .

How thick is the insulation? That might be the problem. The 12" attic insulation I recently used in the cathedral part of my barn was 24" wide. They were only 4', but stayed in the bay fine, so 8' would not have been an issue.

Have you tried regular insulation clips (insulation supports)? there just a thin steel wire you put between joists or rafters, maybe every 2 feet. Its around $10 for box of 100 at home depot.
