Long time lurker first time poster.. :)

I have a 12x24 wood frame metal covered shed I bought to used as a shop. I mess with lawn mowers, go karts, atvs and such.

What's some good ideas on insulating it? Fiberglass with paper backing? No backing?? Foam panels??

Any advice will be appreciated..

Yep, framing it out indoors will work. If you are concerned with cost or preserving as much space as possible, use 2 x 2s for framing to allow use of one or one and a half inch foam panels. Canned spray foam will seal up any odd spaces. I bought some foam panels from a Home Depot that someone had dinged with a forklift, maybe fifty cents for full sheets, one inch thickness.

Cheaper yet rip some clear two by fours and frame with that.

It has 2x4 walls. I was just wondering what the best material to use was.

I've read that the metal siding causes condensation and just wanted to do it once.

I live in Alabama and it gets pretty humid here in the summer time. I have one small window (May get a window a/c) a walk thru door and a roll up door on the end.. Bought it used and think I got a pretty good deal on it..

Fiberglas batts, and you can get up to R-15 for 2x4 walls. It's probably the easiest DIY insulation out there. And even in the hot South, any insulation is better than none.

Just insulate with fiberglass batts. As far as condensation, just make sure it is vented properly.
