I have a 2 story garage but the second story is only a loft type area which is open on all sides, you can see the roof of the garage looking up from the bottom. I've been wanting a temperature controlled area so I made a couple walls to enclose a 20x10 foot area. It's only about 8 foot high, so the plan is to blow insulation in all 4 walls and then put up a ceiling of some kind. But I'm having a hard time deciding what to use, either drywall or a tiled drop ceiling. Drop ceilings look more expensive than drywall, and I'm not even sure how well the insulated tiles work compared to insulation on top of a drywall ceiling. Since temperature control is the main goal here what are my options for insulating this small space while the rest of the garage isn't insulated? Is the cement floor a big enough factor so I would need some insulation on that too?
