Has anyone built a pole barn with radiant heat in slab?
What did you use to insulate slab and was vertical insulation installed around perimeter?
Thanks in advance,
Tc

Yes it has been done. The search function can point you in the direction you answers will come from.

Heating and insulation answers vary by locality, my situation in Anchorage was different than my situation in Honolulu. At present I am across the bay from San Diego, no two places have been exactly the same.

You dont mention your location... that would be helpful...

To answer your question... yes... it's fairly common... using 2" (minimum) ridgid styrofoam insulation. Many people use the pink stuff (O/C)... I've found the blue (Dow) to be easier to cut and it actually has a higher rating (rigidity/compression resistance) than the OC.

In cold climates, perimeter insulation is a good idea.

Here, 2in XPS under slab and 4in XPS in vertical perimeter plus 2x8 ft XPS 2in skirt outside perimeter except corners where 4x8 ft XPS 2in is used.

Works great so far.
