insulating a pole barn

What have you used to insulate the side walls of a standard pole barn? My has metal siding with strips running length wise every 2 feet and 12 ft high walls. Not planning on covering up the insulation at this point in time ( read as out of $'s!)

What about a 12 ft wide uninsulated over head door?

Mine is 28x40x12. I studded the walls, put in R-13 already wrapped in plastic. R-60 in the ceiling, then put up osb on the walls and ceiling. Going to use fuel oil for heat this winter.

I used mostly "used" fiberglass batts in my walls then put 2X6 girts (those "strips" running lenght-wise are "girts") up and fastened my OSB/plywood to them.

Another way is to run 2x4 "girts" on their sides between the posts on 48" centers then buy 48" wide fiberglass batts (kraft faced) and staple them to the "girts"...

I insulated my 12X8 steel door with 2X4 fiberglass ceiling panels like those from a dropped ceiling... worked perfect, ez to tuck in the door and keeps the shop cozy.

I ran horizontal bookshelving every 24 inches and put batts between them. For the ceiling, and put in 24 inch centers two by fours and put up osb and blew in insulation. Vapor barrier is important also.
