What is the best way to insulate a pole building? I dont really want to put studs in and spray foam is too much money. Any other options?

You might be able to use this material. This is my base layer of insulation on my metal building. On my shop it was sandwiched between my purlins and the outer wall. You might be able to sandwich it between your purlins and a 2x4 to keep it in place. The 4' and 6' vertical span between my purlins is not a problem with the face material.

I added a single 2x6 stud between each set of 8' spaced 6x6 posts and then rolled in this stuff: http://www.guardianbp.com/docs%5Ccatalogs%5Cbillings%5Cbl09ins.pdf Scroll down to metal building insulation (Last page).
It comes in 3' to 6' widths, 50ft rolls. I'm very happy with it, saved a ton of time and material costs over the more standard 16" or 24" batts. I was able to pick up the rolls as well to save on the shipping. The are made in Cleveland, Ohio.

HTH :)
