Insulating a prefab metal building?

I just had a metal building built and I will try to post pics soon. The builders didn't know how to install insulation. Now the building is built and I need insulation! Anyone have any ideas? The building is built like a steel carport, except it it s boxed in. the 2.5" uprights are spaced just shy of 5' OC.

Yep....one of the issues of metal and pole buildings....cheap to put up....until you want to insulate them.....

I have seen guys take the 24" batts of insulation, roll them out lengthwise and use wire screwed to the metal poles to keep it in place....

Another option would be to install OSB on the inside (cut a 4x8 down to 4x5) and sandwhich the insulation behind it....

You could have used the same insulation used when they build "red iron" building... plastic encapsulated fibeglass sandwiched between the columns and steel siding.

You could screw 1X4 girts to the vertical columns and lay fiberglass behind them. Then use osb/drywall or plywood to finish off the inside.

BTW ddawg16... pole buildings are no more expensive to insulate than stick built buildings if you specify "flush" wall construction.

So i may have the wall insulation problem solved. Batts and OSB. Any ideas for the roof? I don't want to lose the height by adding a dropped ceiling. The primary purpose for this garage will be music rehearsals and recording. The added 'volume' of the building will help. I do, however, need to be cost conscience. The batts and OSB seem to fit that!

what about spray in foam for the ceiling?? I know people have done this before in here, plus if you are recording in there it will act as a sound eliminator

I think that spray-in insulation may be too expensive for me. But it's looking like everything is pricey.

Do it yourself kits are available... A google search may be in order.
