I've got a 40x50 steel building we built 2 years ago and didn't insulate it for whatever reason. What is the most cost effective way to insulate these types of buildings and where can you get the supplies?

The standard fiberglass insulation usually goes between the frame and the panels.

Look into spray foam. Probably easier to install and definitely works good.

Not endorsing these guys. Strictly info.

I kinda wish I went that route instead of the fiberglass rolls that come with the building.

my shop is insulated with 2" closed cell spray foam.you can't imagine how easy it is to heat.its by far the best insulation i have ever seen.not the cheapest to start with but will pay for itself in the long run

95mmrenegade... you didn't say where you are located. If in a cold climate area, I would agree with others posters and advocate for closed cell spray foam. Just make certain it is thick enough to adequately insulate any moisture sensitive structures, for if too thin, condensation may potentially form on foam surface.

See http://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com...lating-minimum-thickness-rigid-foam-sheathing for a nice discussion.

+1 on closed cell. Just got this done a few weeks ago and it really makes a difference in noise reduction and structural integrity as well as the heat loss factor.
