We are looking to purchase a home with a couple of acres, and an existing 38x40 shop. While it does have a pellet stove, it is not insulated. I am guessing in it about 10 years old. I live in the Pacific NW, South of Seattle, East of Tacoma, (Puyallup). So we will have a lot of rain, occasional snow, not much in humidity in the Summer. Did I mention rain? A pretty moderate climate. I am looking for recommendations when it comes to insulating the building. A bit worried about cost, as there is going to be a bit of work done on the home as well. I appreciate any input.

R19 from Menards at $12 a roll is going to put you at $1300 for the walls if they are 12ft walls. Double that for stud work and then whatever you decide to cover it with all in all about 5 k. Then the ceiling add another 2-3 k. Those are not very conservative numbers though. It can be done cheaper but don't be surprised.
