To the hvac guys out there,is there anything to gain by doing this ? The furnace is a 95% propane and is located in the part of the shop that is only heated when used. This area rarely sees less than 32 deg though,so condensate freeze is not an issue. The furnace maintains 50 deg. in the machine shop rooms that are built within the big shop and is run up to 70 every couple days.I can see insulateing the hot supply plenum (all the ductwork is r-9 or better),but the return is short, only about 36" long where it runs in the "sometimes heated shop area". Is insulateing this a case of diminishing return?
