Hello, I'm looking for some insulating covers for either C or H taps, I assume some one makes them, but I have not been able to find any. I want to tap some 4/0 thhn cu feeders, is one type of tap better than the other??

Thanks
William....

If you can strip the insulation mid-span of the conductor and free up the end to slide this down the conductor to the stripped area, then these could work.

The existing conductor is not cut, but passes through the connector and the set screw bears down on the copper. Then your tap conductor comes out only one port of the next row. Tighten the set screws and put the caps back on and done. No tape needed.

Make sure what you buy allows for clearance of the insulation.

Blackburn C7 is the cover for "D" die H crimps, that would cover 4/0.

H crimps are great connections and I assume you know you need the crimper.

Sorry it tool me a bit get back to this! I don't think I can crimp that tap i think it takes a die that only fits the 15 ton head and I only have the 14 ton head. I think I can crimp the CU tap YH2929WC with my crimper and I have the purple die.
Both Burndy and NSI make them. The gel filled ones are really nice.
The model I was looking at doesn't have gel in it, I'm thinking that since it's going to be either in the wire way or the panel board, and they are in side, save.jpg

I wouldn't need the gel??

Thanks
