I'm considering a 30 X 36 X 10 enclosed, steel truss pole barn for my garage and workshop. Doors would be 16 X 7 and 10 X 7 roll up with a 36' man door. I like the space and the bang for the buck, but with construction style, seems like I will be doing upgrades for years to come.
My concern is insulation and a sealed structure to keep the critters out. They frame the walls with 2x6 lumber for the studs and 1x4 furring strips as the backing. Painted metal is then screwed on the furring strips. The walls are anchored to the concrete with J- bolts. Shething and wrapping the walls and roof prior to the roof and siding drive the cost up $3k
Builder tells me that it's not required and I could further frame and insulate from the inside.
Any thoughts or experience with this concept?
