Insulating Garage Loft

Hey all,

I am looking for some advice on how to properly insulate my garage loft. I would like to build a woodworking shop up there.

Currently the roof and walls are just tin on strapping with no plywood or housewrap. I was just wondering whats the best way to insulate this.

Do you plan on covering the insulation once in? like with metal or plywood? I may be wrong I'm no builder but I'd get R19 batts and push it in if worried about a moisture barrier you could put plastic sheets in first but not too sure how that would work.

I would be covering the walls with chip board. I was just concerned with moisture building up between the batts and the tin is all.

I thought about using the enerfoil board and cutting it to fit between the beams.

The ribs in the metal and the roof girts provide an air gap needed for insulating. Get some Kraft faced 24" (or what ever the span is) fiber glass insulation and tack it onto the rafters with the paper facing out, or some may use 1" R-max insulation board that comes in 4x8 sheets.

Oh ok so i wont have to strip the tin off and put chip board under the tin or anything like that? I can just insulate then vapor barrier then sheeting over top.
