Insulating my cathedral ceiling

I'm starting to think about insulation for my lift bay, which has a cathedral ceiling with 2x10 rafters. I'm wondering if I can hang drywall first leaving a space at the top to blow in cellulose and then fill the remaining cavity with fiberglass batt insulation. I'd prefer to use cellulose because it is considerably cheaper and I prefer cellulose over fiberglass (let's not start this debate again though).

The question I have is the ventilation baffles say that I should leave a 1" gap every 4', I'm concerned that I may fill my airspace with insulation if I don't cover it with something. I'm wondering if I can put some sort of screen or netting over the gaps to prevent intrusion, but allow the insulation to breathe.

If I'm not mistaken, you must use batt insulation on any type of vaults. Otherwise your cellulose will inevitably settle down the vault and you'll be left with no insulation at the top.
