Ok I have a 28 x 40 pole barn with 16ft walls
We are selling our house and if we can’t find another may have a travel trailer inside the pole barn until we do
It’s cold here in NY in winter ..
Now what would it cost to put a steel siding ceiling in and insulate above it and spray foam the walls to keep it above freezing 🥶

Price of materials times 3 = project cost..... I just made that up.

Call a few contractors close to you and see if they're willing to give verbal pricing for estimates so you can get in the ballpark. The insulation is one thing, how do you plan to heat the shop?

I would spray foam the whole thing. I don't know what costs are today but we spent $4500 to put 1.5" on a 32 x 56 x 16h. We also have a 30 x 40 x 16 with interior steel panels and 6" blown in insulation. The difference is night and day.

Spray foam is the easiest (and perhaps one of the best) answers. The cost seems to be variable depending on where you are (geography). With spray foam, assuming the building is empty, they can have it done in a day. No reason to install a ceiling and deal with "unheated space" in an "attic". Just foam the whole thing.

And yea, you'll need to heat the space. Propane is most efficient for us (in <30 degree weather).

We lived in a 5th wheel / steel building for about a 1.5 years.

I just had my 30x40x12 pole barn spray foamed in Mass. I went with open cell, they filled the walls, 7 or so inches, and sprayed the roof line to at least R40, they were not light on the foam anywhere. Cost was $9100 for the entire thing. I went out there the other day and it was 50 degrees inside, 39-40 outside. I ran a little 100k btu lpg pot heater for 10 mins, it raised the temp to 62 and it never got below 60 in the 4+ hours I was out there! Its worth every penny!!
