Hello everyone. It has been years since I was active here. I find myself re-doing work I did nearly 20 years ago. I am looking for some advice on a raised floor in a shop in the back of the garage.
The short story. I have 2x4's face down 12feet apart. They are screwed directly to the slab. I want to cut foam board to place in between the 2x4's and 3/4 OSB over the top. This will replace the poorly installed blue board and 1/2" CDX already there.
Questions: Is polyiso foam board the best product for this? To get the best fit between the 2 by I was going to cut it narrow and put a spray foam bead around the insulation.
Other problems; I have some issues in the two bay car area adjacent to the shop entrance. The slab has a good hump under the car that results in water pooling at the shop door. There is some sign of water intrusion under the 2x 4 floor frame.
Time is an issue. Due to covid I need to convert this shop from 20 years of car hobby (dirty work) to more of a doctors office vibe (musical instrument repair) in order to improve social distance at work.
I need to move forward and don't want to pull up the 2x4 work. Might be easier to grind the high spots on the concrete which should be done anyway.
Lots to absorb here I know. I would appreciate any feet back from the is brain trust.
