Insulating recessed cabinets in knee wall? How to insulate?

I am planning on installing recessed cabinets in my knee wall above my garage. The room is heated/cooled by HVAC. Currently, the knee wall has insulation bats in it. After installing the boxes, I was going to crawl in behind the knee wall and try to attach bats to the cabinets. Any other suggestions? Should I even worry about doing this? I am doing two cabinets approx. 4'x4'. Just to add, I'm a little freaky about heat loss and keeping my utility bill down.

Think of your insulation as a blanket that covers you and slows the loss of heat from your house. Any hole will leak heat a a much faster rate, even if a cabinet is put in it. I would frame a new knee wall behind the cabinets and fill it with insulation and carry the insulation up the rafter space to the existing knee wall. Don't forget to keep the vapor barrier continuous and keep the 1" airspace needed in the rafters between the insulation and the underside of the roof deck. Use "Propavent" to maintain this.
