wondering if you gurus have come up with a solution to install some type of insulation to ward off New England Cold weather.
i can only think of some sort of insulated panels for winter use that allow me to remove quickly if i have to move something in/out and wont fit thru th eman door.

Depending on how much clearance you have between the drum and your wall, you may add a flexible air filled foil type insulation and let it roll up onto the drum. Your biggest issue will be with the gap at the header. With the door down, the roll is small and a lot of air can go through that gap. Some doors have a rubber flap that stops some of the air but it’s not all that good. Those type of doors are meant for non conditioned spaces. While they do make insulated roll up doors, they are very expensive and not very efficient.

How big is the door? Maybe hang a tarp around it to make an air barrier?

How often are you opening it? Warehouses in Houston I've seen hanging plastic flaps, keep the ac in and the heat out, similar in walk in/pallet truck in freezers.

that small roll area at the top is one of the reason i posted. i tried the reflective foil **** the clearance when rolled up is a thin piece of felt is one of the issues i noticed. and the Down position gives a huge gap.

it would only be opened when required to get the snow removal gear out. i do have some elevator blankets. they are to be hung inside in front of the roll up door.

What about some polyiso panels. Maybe make a frame they can slot into on the side or something? Light weight...easy to move when needed. Would need somewhere to store in warmer months.

Excellent! i believe a few 1x3's to make a frame and a few gussets to keep it true.
Many Thanks!

When I was insulating my roll up doors I got an industrial spray coating. Check with Lizard Skin and they have an industrial line that works for heat and cold. I will try to find out the name if interested. I checked this morning and the company that makes Lizard Skin is Mascoat. They have a commercial line of spray on insulation material that works on roll up doors. Hope you either see this or have solved how to install your insulation.
