this weekend I'm having my 30+ year old heat pump system replaced with a Bryant/Carrier unit. While they've got the old air handler out I'm going to put in some insulation and drywall to help insulate the laundry room a little better.
Should I put in 2x6 fire stops at 4' high to give the top edge something to fasten to and seal off any gaps with spray foam?
When I bought the place 6 years ago you could crawl from the laundry room right into the crawl space. I put 1" foam boards on the crawlspace side to close it off but noticed there wasn't any insulation behind that piece of sheetrock. Home owner had left some old R13 so I shoved it down in there as tight as i could get it to stop some drafts from coming into the kitchen area.
