I have a thing metal door, and am thinking of adding A/C? Can you add styrofoam to the inside of the doors, or is this easier to address with a new door that is build to insulate more?

The ridgid foam inserts would be ok, provided you also seal the door well, but a new door would act much more like a complete thermal barrier.

You could throw some sheet insulation in, but a good insulated door with thermal breaks would be better and seal better.

Cedar Park Overhead Door did a great job insulating our double and single doors last summer...instant gratification! A little spendy compared to DIY kits but turned out much better than I would have done myself. I insulated SIL's door in Miss. a couple of years ago with rigid foam...the pro job is VERY professional in appearance and maxes out the R-value. Glad I experimented on HER door and went with the pros on ours! Give them a call...Ted was our tech...good guy. Tell'em Coach Rick on Whitley Bay Drive sent you! If you get ANY direct sun on your door, you will notice the difference the first day!
