Insulating Wall

Hey guys. Been lurking for the past year and finally joined. Justed finished a home renovation and will now start working on my attached garage.

Anyway, I have a question about insulating the wall between my garage and house. I removed a fireplace and moved a door last spring, framed, and sheet rocked the inside. I left the garage side open for ease of wiring, but it's now time to insulate and sheet rock before winter.

Can I use faced batts and shove them in facing first (so the facing is on the warm side)? Or do I just get unfaced batts at this point? I attached an old picture for reference.

Thanks

If it were me I would just put the faced side of the insulation towards the house like you said. It doesn't sound like you will have the garage heated much.

Right, during the winter the house will be heated every day, where the garage will ony see heat occasionally.

Is there any issue with stuffing the facing in from the "back side" of the wall? Normally the facing is stapled to the bare studs prior to drywall. I guess that was my only concern.

Could you just pull back the insulation enough to staple the paper to the side of the studs? Sometimes they have flaps that are about 1" wide that you can unfold to make the paper a little bit wider.

If it were me i would buy UNFACED and then put a 6mil Vapor barrier on the garage side, tuck tape it up the ceiling, then the drywall with 5/8" firerated sheetrock. This will seal your garage from your house, sealed from any off gases or anything you wish to do in the future. And much easier. And you did the job correct. You need a sealed vapor barrier, at this point, i think its your best option. I will post a pic
