Ok so here's What I've got fellas I have a 24x36 ft shop it used to have a gable roof but we tore it down&did a pitched roof like a lean to or shed roof. The sides all have osb &then felt&then the tin.The roof just has the 2x6s&nailers &tin.It dosnt get too hot in the summer&now with winter approaching I'm ready to hang some 1& 1/2 in thick foam board I have.I was just gonna do it all with the foam board&on the ceiling I was gonna hang the foam between the 2x6s attached to the nailers so it can breath.Someone said not to do the ceiling but since heat rises I'm not sure about that.I do a lot of body work through the winter running torpedo heaters so need to get it warm.Any advice?

Welcome Cut. I tried to pick an area that I work in a lot and focu my heat in there. I have a small electric heater and unless it is over 20 degrees I don't even try to heat the barn.. To make it manageable I DID cover my ceiling with the foam board both as a finish material and a heat barrier. I pull across a curtain which creates a 20'x20' space. The little 220 20Amp heater keeps the place at 60ish.. walls have R-19 in them..

Not sure about having to cut them all to fit between trusses though. Seems like a lot of work?

What I did was put 1" on top of roof trusses and 3/4" on the bottom of them vented the attic, then have put trash bags full of packing peanuts, Styrofoam, or any foam, and bubble wrap, add that to the attic as you save them. To mount the sheets deck screws with plastic washer, plus some shop made aluminum strips made from scraps make helper / holder.

the blue doesn't look bad, we have been using a blue vinyl tape to seal joints even better. A little clear caulk is used along the wall. Works really good to keep it cool in the summer! We used a utility knife and a 1930's handi-saw (a small cast iron handle and 6" long fine tooth blades. Worked it like drywall with out the weight and dust.

Your torpedoes are going to produce a ton of moisture that you are going o have to vent.
Any interior tin exposed to the outside is going to get a lot of condensation on it.
Fit your boards as tight as possible and use Great Stuff to seal the edges.

Plan on “wasting” some heat to get the moisture out.
(The moisture will follow the heat.)

Vapor barrier then drywall, insulate as you can afford. It will make a huge difference and probably be more cost effective, efficient and higher R value.

Yea I have a 24x24 pole barn garage and I made the mistake of using 2in foam it dont hold the heat very well and dont warm up very quick! Once I get my Cnc plasma table paid off and buy a new air compressor Im going to buy the rolled and put it over the pink! I have never been able to be out in my garage with out a hoodie and a coat and I have a nice wood stove that throws out some heat!
