Insulation for a pole barn floor

I am preparing a pole barn for radiant floor heating, I am looking for insulation ideas for the slab. I plan on using 2 inches around the perimeter 8 feet inward towards the center. I am not sure if I should take the insulation downward into the ground at the perimeter? I would appreciate any comments or suggestions from your experience.

As one of the examples already sighted in the link above, insulating the edge of the slab will be very important (money well spent).

I will answer your question with a big YES. What method of installation and how deep are other questions you need to decide on also. On my conventional block foundation I used an inch of rigid foam under the entire floor and down the inside of the foundation wall to the footer (below the frost line in my area). I placed another inch of rigid foam on the outside of the block from the footing all the way to the peak of my 2 story shop. I heat with GFA but if I had used in-floor heating I would insulate the very same way.
