I am in the Chicagoland region and wondering it it's worth insulating and closing off this ceiling. My original plan was to just finish the walls, install some nice cabinets, slatwall, and make it look good. Since we are replacing the garage doors and the new ones are insulated, that invited the question if it's worth insulating the whole garage. I wanted to keep the ceiling open to be able to store light stuff up there, but it's not a deal breaker is I lose it. If I do close it off an insulate, I way throw in a heater to be able to use it in the winter occasionally to work car maintenance or detailing.

Although I do a lot of DIY, insulation is not my strong area so hopefully the smart folks here can chime in. I was looking at what this gentleman did and wondering if this solution would be the best way to go:

Thanks in advance.

Or insulate at rafters top reserve storage. You may want soffit to ridge venting. Maybe foam board attached to rafters. Not hard but foam prices are high.
