Insulation Opinion

Hey Guys- question, building is sealed off with closed cell, spray foam. I took some of your suggestions and added some extra r value so i should have around r-40 in the upper unit when im done here.

Back to the question...would you run the insulation to the peak or run it to the horizontal truss and over?

I would cover the roof rafters. Basically, they're up against the roof decking and because they are dense, they provide a "thermal bridge" that will transfer heat, even though the roof decking between them is insulated.

I would cover the foam.

If the foam is at all thin for your climate -- the extra insulation will provide an additional protection .. albeit -- tiny.

In a house situation with a large attic space w/o any conditioning -- there is a theory that a small amount of insulation in the ceiling will add to energy saving. Reason: there is a temp difference ... and with a house there are typically leaks.

With your situation -- the space is so small and will be sealed off -- it's better to have that air within the whole building IMO.
