Insulation options & fire code

Hello everyone, I am finishing up a Versatube metal garage build (build thread coming soon). It is permitted and will be inspected.

I am about ready to put on the roof panels. What I would really like to do is to put 1 1/2 Thremasheath Polyiso foam under the roof panels. From everything I have researched, polyiso or polystyrene foam, or craft faced batt insulation is required to have 15 minute thermal barrier of 1/2" sheetrock or wood between the interior of the building. I do not want to have to do this; I want to be able to leave the ceiling unfinished.

Does this code still apply to a residential non-liveable space? The exact wording on my city permit states "detached metal storage building."

Thanks

You're going to have to check with your city. They're the ones who are coming back to inspect it.

Every location is different. In my neck of the woods, if you were to leave the attic or walls un-sheetrocked you'd be running all your electric in conduit.

I believe my city just follows IBC and IRC so I was hoping someone here would be familiar, so I could get started on the roof this weekend. Tried calling the code line today and I guess they got today off for the holiday too.

Romex was not an option anyways with metal studs. Being a journeyman wireman, conduit is a non-issue. I'll probably end up doing some conduit and some MC cable. I had to jump through so many hoops to get the building shell permit.... just trying to get that signed off first then tackle the electrical.
