Insulation R19......?

I have just moved into a new to me house...it has a 30 x 60 x 12 barn built with 2x6 studs 24" on center....which is bare no electric no insulation and no heat( this is northern Michigan). I'm thinking I need to get a pro to do the electric before putting up any insulation. I found a deal on R-19 6.5" fiberglass in a 23 inch width. Do I then need to put in some type of vapor barrier before drywall? I plan to heat only as needed with one of the ceiling hanger style gas heater.

Any comments or ideas are welcome...I'm just starting to get my plans together...I have very little experince with construction and plan to learn as much as I can ....so I can do as much as possible myself

I'm in the NW lower as well.The insulation you have will be ok,just do not let it touch or even get within an inch or so of the steel as it will get wet. I am of the oppinion that up here,with a sometimes heated steel sided building that you only want a vapor retarder (low perm), so it can move both ways. All of mine are this way and it has worked well .That being said,ideally the low perm membrane would be directly under the steel. You do not have that option but you could stuff it in between the studs vertically,then staple to the sides of the studsbefore installing the fg. This would be my aproach,then drywall over it all.

Now in a home that is heated all the time a full vb is needed,but I think the application is the determineing factor.
