Ok guys I need some ideas on how to go about insulating my shop celling. As you can see from the picture its just a metal roof with wood framing the spacing of the gaps is just about 39" wide so if I did fiberglass I would need a roll of 15" and a roll of 24" fore each gap no problem really. But I have been thinking about the ridged foam board not sure that would give me much R value so let me hear it how would you do this ?

I'd seal the ridge vent, do EPS foam glued to the metal, then frame in for R-19 fiberglass.
But im no expert on metal buildings.

What size is the timber up there? Are those 2x10s?

I think I'd go hard foam against the wood and let the air circulate on the ends. Don't put it directly on the metal. Would be interesting to hear from some contractors on this one.

Here is a better picture of what I am doing.when we moved to our new house there was this kind of carport structure on one end of the house . I am think they were using it for dry storage because there is no way to get a car down to it. Any way since I had a roof I thought let's build a work shop lol.

Spray Foam is the only way to fly.

It's expensive but you get what you pay for.

It will glue itself to the metal and won't fall down etc..

It will get into the ribs in the metal and completely prevent any condensation.

Rigid foam board will drip condensation at the seams.

Are we trying to keep it warm or cool?
If cool you need venting between the insulation and the roof.
