Intake connection on Kobalt/Sanborn/Powermate

Hi Everyone,

[Long time lurker, first time poster]

Does anyone have a good solution for connecting to the intake on a Kobalt 60 gallon compressor?

On my previous compressor (oilless/airless 20gallon) I was able to just thread in a section of black pipe to outdoors. The Kobalt (rebranded Sanborn/Coleman/Powermate) has a filter instead of a threaded intake. (see below)

I suppose a small metal box could be made to fit in the flange where the filter currently resides; the end of the box could then be sealed and connected to intake plumbing.

Ideas? Does anyone make such an adapter already?

Thanks,

Ben1000,

Did you come up with a solution to this? I just got a new sanborn and have the same type of intake.

Use a piece of strap metal in place of the filter felt. Either tap a 1/2NPT hole in the metal, or weld a 1/2NPT collar to it. Then simply thread on your new intake filter/plumbing. (seal everything up as you mentioned earlier)
