Any mfr make a swivel with an integrated extension on the downstream end? Or has anyone here welded these two together? I tried searching but no luck, I don't have any idea what to call it if it exists. Seems like that would help concentrate flex where you want it by reducing the number of joints.

I have one i made to do spark plugs on ford triton motors. Consists of a spark plug socket, 3" extension, swivel and 6" extension. Tack welded them all together and ground smooth, best way I have found to do them especially on the v-10's in pickups.

If they came in 12 point they would be very handy on the bigger spicer U-joints where you have no room for a short socket and swivel..

I have a few of the Snap-on 12pt versions for Volvo passenger cars and about every pan/valve cover I come across, one of my favorite tools out there. What size diameter are the dana spicer u-joints? Good possibility they would manufacturer them with an Email or inquiry. Would also love to see these with torx bit sockets also.

generally 12 or 13mm. Some times 1/2" is a better fit though. After all these years I still don't get why they use 12point fasteners on drivelines.By the time I get to them the heads are usually half stripped off from the last guy working on it. I'll have to ask the SO man nex time i see em

I have seen them with the swivel socket fixed to the end but never the other way around. Also, the ones that are available I believe are in limited sizes.

When it comes to the spicer SPL250 u joints, its easy to use a 3/8 drive 12pt or a 1/2" and a wobble.

HF impact wobble works plenty sufficient to get enough angle for even impact.

Torch is highly recommended, especially considering the red locktite. Properly torquing to 125ft-lbs can be a bit tricky as the average torque wrench head probably doesnt fit squarely.

The tube is so big, that standard extensions nearly rub against the tube, and some sockets are too fat to fit squarely.

Would a flex head or swivel head ratchet not provide the same angularity?

lg
no neat sig line

Kinda yeah, but no. With this imaginary piece and a fixed head ratchet I could better apply linear pressure with the ratchet head and/or handle in my palm. With a flexy head ratchet, which I'm going to buy eventually, it will be more difficult to apply linear pressure with the ratchet hand.

I can accomplish what I want with a swivel at the ratchet and add an extension, but I was looking to cut out the (unneeded) joint between the two. I may just do what FordNut did.
