I know Klein gets a bad rap around here at times, but I have a 10 or 11 in 1 screwdriver that is currently my favorite interchangeable screwdriver. The lettering has worn off the handle, but everything is still fine and the tips are holding up well.

I have one of these in every car, a few drawers at home and in my desk at work. For a little over $10 they can't be beat. I find the tips to be very strong and durable. For traditional screwdrivers, I have found the tips to be too soft for my needs even though I still love the handle style.

I have a Klein, works ok. I use a Lenox all the time for work and love it. It has robertson tips which I use and it has 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 nut drivers. Would I use it on rusty stuff or real tight stuff, no, but it works on electrical stuff

THanks guys. I bought a Wera bit holder on ebay and some PB Swiss bits. Not as convenient but nicer quality at a lower price than other options.

But they're worth it. They're SO worth it.

Moose - I thought you were a big fan of Snap-On hard handled screwdrivers? Care to give us your thoughts on the performance of the PB Swiss relative to the Snap-On and the pros / cons?

I just LOVE the PB Swiss one but the price takes my breath away. PB swiss seems awfully expensive to me - and i'm not just being cheap. I think the prices just went up or something.

Speaking of that, for the guys in the USA, where is the best place to buy PB swiss? That single picture has caused me to want to buy some.

best place = Great customer service with low / resonable pricing and quick delivery.

I'm buying that interchangable tip driver, that this is just

The shape, knurling, etc ,etc is just awesome.

Does anyone know why the pic on the website doesn't show the knurling? Is that a new addition?

I think the new ones don`t have the knurling anymore only the older ones.
Member "Chreese" bought a PB ratcheting screwdriver after i bought one (with knurling) but his was already without knurling.

Well...I wonder why they took it off? :headscrat That knurling is really, really nice to have on a ratcheting screwdriver to speed the screw in and out with high speed/low torque. I use that feature on my current ratcheting screwdriver all the time.

I have a Craftsman screwdriver with four interchangeable tips (p1/3/16 and p2/1/4) that I keep in my desk at work and often take with m on photo shoots, etc. It's really handy and the tips are good quality but the handle *****. I've had to replace it at sears two or three times now. Does anybody know of a quality alternative?

PB Swiss.. They have easily the nicest quality unit I've ever seen, and the bits are also first class.

different handles

Here are the ones that I have used for the last 20+ years from worst to best;
My Snap-On SSDM41A-good grip-No storage
My Matco SDP544-decent grip-storage-and came with a molded box with 26 tips
My Hazet 2262 full size and Mini-love the feel-storage pivits...wish I could find more of these!
I like them all, and havent found any more that I like.

That Matco looks very similiar to a couple of SK versions that I bought from Rickster. I like them but both caps are in slightly rough shape with the thread being a little abused (they were used)

Did Snap-On make the SSDM41A style in the generation of hard handle that came after the SSD? Would probably start SDD rather than SSD. I like there is nothing 'extra' and it is just the handle with the interchangable tip.

For a non ratcheting driver that has interchangeable tips....I have to agree. I have 5-6 of those drivers. I have used them for years. I keep on in each one of my bags and one in my truck. I like the handle. I give it a thumbs up.

I would go with the Picquick too. Full sized bits so you can use them in a drill if need be, the bits are held tightly in the handle and you get the 6 most common bit you need.

I am a big fan of the Snap-on screwdrivers, but i've found that they're inferior to some of their rivals. PB Swiss, Wiha, Wera, etc.

I bought two of these Wiha Torx screwdrivers:

http://www.wiha.com/england/Onlineshop/Screwdrivers2/360-Wiha-Classic-TORX-R

Before using them i was really happy with my Snap-on torx screwdrivers, they worked fine but were never quite as good a fit as my Wiha 1/4" bits. I've tried the Wiha screwdrivers and they fit perfectly in the Torx screws, no wiggle or movement. The Wiha 1/4" torx bits also fit better than the Snap-on branded (Zephyr?) torx bits.

I have a PB Swiss Insider 1/4" screwdriver and those bits are second to none, i haven't used a PB ratcheting screwdriver yet but i have no doubt that they're the best on the market. I like my Snap-on ratcheting screwdrivers, but the bit hole in the handle is naff. The PB Insider's "cage" for the bits is great, Snap-on should've incorporated a similar thing to their ratcheting screwdrivers, i hate having bits rattling around in the handle, then when you want one you have to pour them all into your hand and find the right one.

TL;DR Cliff notes: German/Swiss screwdrivers fit better than Snap-on

If you want an interchangeable bit screwdriver that isn't ratcheting, this is the one for you:

http://www.pbswisstools.com/index.php?id=172&L=4

You can get it in either stubby or standard length.

Thanks Moose   That is EXACTLY the kind of feedback / mini-review I was looking for from someone that has extensively used both.

Does the PB Swiss have a magnetic tip? How well do the bits stay in the tip? I've had disappointing results with magnetic tips from Klein, Felo, and Wiha. Especially with bits like torx and robertson that have more "stick" than just slotted or phillips.

I think I read they have a very strong magnet and I thought I was reading there was a ring retention version too.

Maybe someone that actually has one can comment.

It was kind of a shame to find out, to be honest. Not the say the Snap-on ones are bad, they're just not as good as their German/Swiss counterparts. Between the two i'd buy the German/Swiss ones, not only are they better but they're usually cheaper too.

I deal with lots of torx screws where the heads have been worn down (Undertray screws on VAG cars.) and the German ones work where the Snap-on ones don't.

Mine is magnetic, it's strong enough to hold the bit on, but not so strong it's a pain to remove the bit.

:shocking::shocking::shocking:

What now ? will you sell all your SO screwdrivers ?? :D ;)

Haha, no. I'm just going to have to double the size of the collection, with European duplicates! :D

Correct. The PB Swisstools ratcheting screwdriver I bought at the beginning of this year doesn't have the knurling while older PB (Baumann) ratcheting screwdrivers (PB Twister 6510 A - with Multicraft handle) had the knurling.
