Interesting adjustable ratcheting crescent wrench

What do you think of this new offering from crescent? I saw it at HD today for $24.99. I was definitely intrigued. It felt good in my hands and seemed relatively robust. Probably not something I would use to loosen a rusty bolt, but seemed like a very handy tool.

Anyone have it? $25 doesn't seem too steep either.

For LIGHT work,it might be OK,but it doesn't look very strong to me. There's too much leverage over the length of the jaws and not enough beef in the head to back it up. If you want to use it for fasteners under about 1/4",it might live through the first use. It reminds me of all the other miracle tools that "fit" every size known to mankind. I'll keep my $25 in my pocket.

Just looking at the picture, i agree with the junk gimmick tool diagnosis... seems like the kind of thing they come out with for the Christmas shopping season, that people who don't know anything about tools buy for people like us, and we toss in the junk drawer on 12/26. i'd probably bend those arms tightening a license plate.

I saw this one at "sLowe's" as well. It looks beefier in-person than the pics, IMO. If I got one, it would be to carry w/ me in the car for "emergencies"... but my car is big enough that I have enough space in the trunk for a full set of 3/8" ratchet & sockets (along with combo wrenches, screwdrivers, bottle jack, etc.).

I agree on the Christmas/Father's Day gift assessment, though.

A guy I work with brought one of these in a few days ago. It is built quite well. Ratchet feels good. Head is kinds big and bulky. No ability for an extension either, so access is limited. Where it fits it would actually work fine on clean low torque fasteners. Other than the problems mentioned above the BIGGEST problem is that it only grabs 2 corners. I tried tightening a brand new 7/16 nut and bolt together. Granted that size has pretty big head-the tool still stripped off the 2 corners with not too much torque applied. 1/4 nut and bolt were not much better.
Overall, leave this at the store.
