That is different. Kind of like Buffalo needed a stand alone drill press for the market and just took one of their existing post drills and mounted it on a column. I doubt there's many around. Ed.

Personally, I think it's a cobbled up post drill. Pretty much worthless.

I like it. But how much does he want for it.
If it's cheap I would buy it. Those old drill presses are slow but can make some nice large holes.
Under $150 I would grab it. Over that I would have to think about it

Agree, X2, but not sure Buffalo did the cobbling; more likely, some farmer/blacksmith built it.
Not for me, I wouldn't give it shop space as a gift. Anyone paying $200 or even $150 wants it for reasons beyond making holes.
FWIW a quick search of OWWM didn't turn up anything on a Model 124. Wonder if it could be like many of the unknowing referring to the Delta 220, because that's the casting number of the head unit.

Well, it's in this catalog http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=4907 Originally made to be mounted on a wall or post, looks to be a shop made freestanding conversion. High/low speed via gearing and power down feed is original, rated for 1-1/2" holes, and drills to the center of a 24" circle, 7-1/2" spindle travel, and a table raiser, pretty interesting.

I looked at the #124 in the catalog on pg. 33, and it's vastly different from the drill on CL.
The conversion to floor standing is the first thing I noticed on the CL drill.
Then, you have the non original electric motor conversion, which I suspected was the case.
I Don't see the power downfeed mechanism on the CL drill.
Don't see the big flywheel on top - (although it's possible they didn't get it in the picture). It wouldn't be needed with the electric motor drive.
Like I said - seriously cobbled up.

Good job finding that in the catalog ragtop. No doubt a shop built modification to mount it like that, but look at that lower mount on the column in this picture with the bits. Hardly a cobble job on that. Not terribly difficult to fabricate but it does take extra time to do that kind of fit and finish. Someone had some skill. Hard to tell on the motor conversion...could be ok. The old motor is pretty cool. Ed.

Geez, why worry about the authenticity of the machine? If if means enough to you to have all the GJ'rs blessing, take that joker off the column and mount it to the wall, take pics, and go on with life. Personally, I like the thing and you are getting an extra stand.
