Interesting engine stand. What was this for?

I have the opportunity to buy this interesting engine stand. Does anyone know who manufactured this and what this was built to hold? I just wondered if it was made for something specific. Thanks!

I wonder if it is designed to be used more vertically (upmost position). Rotate the arm up, then mount the engine so it is easier to work on without stooping. Positioned as shown makes no sense to me.

Yeah, this one’s kinda weird. I am with all of you on your replies on this. I was thinking it might be a good stand for my Ford flathead V-8 project coming up, or at least a cleaning stand. I am a bit partial to my worm drive rotating stand that I switched to since my H-F stand with a Model T engine on it nearly broke my leg a few years ago. I may just get this one bought since it’s so interesting. I will keep y'all posted.

It looks like it can be used without the curved arm as a normal engine stand. I can see the arm being useful, and I can see it being a PITA.

It can!

The round rotation points all use the same metal framework sizes. You can pull off the curved arm and it's mounting point and just use the end like a normal engine stand.

For those curious, these units (or at least mine) were made from steel made in Youngstown, OH. The metal tubing is actually embossed and you can read it very clearly if it's there.
