I've used nylog for assembly lube since it's tacky. On flares to keep the nut / backside of flare front for lube. Nylog is less messy than oil. Never thought of oil or nylog as sealant. Not anymore than anti seize a sealant just lubricant for bolts.

Wow I thought there would be more responses. The video fits my experience pretty well. But be warned about the effect on torquing specs. The nylog on back of flare will contribute to over torque results. Most specs are for dry fit. Perhaps even strip threads. I shoot for the low side of the torque spec or just under. Never had a leaky flare.

I've used it on my Jeep TJ AC fittings. No leaks so far.

I just replaced the grey water dump valve in my RV. Keeping the seals in place while keeping 2 pipes lined up and installing the valve was like nailing jello to the wall. A bit of nylog would have been purfect! Too late now.

I used it on my minisplit connections but really didnt know why. Strange thing was the few in depth videos I was following only used a thin film and only on one side. They said something about it changing the torque settings. That video douched it compared to what i did.
Thanks for sharing.
