Interesting old Clausing bench grinder / sharpener

Doing some work for a couple of older ladies who recently bought a house together. This was on a work bench left by prior owner. Think I saw a guard at back of bench not sure if it belonged to this or not. They asked me if I wanted it. Anybody know anything about this. Pretty unusual. What's the top plate for? Not sure if that spins or is stationary.

Did image search it does appear that top had a horizontal stone for sharpening chisels. Wonder if it turns at reduced speed. May have to take another look when I go back again haha.

Yeah thats what the image search picked up. Looks like they replaced missing stones with MDF and sandpaper. Got to look into this some more. Pretty cool.

Seems to be in decent shape will see if the guard and other parts are there. Not sure if it runs or not.

I wish when I was younger and seen old tools like that at garage sales and the like I would have bought them.
