Has anyone tried these brackets? I just saw their website moments ago via a CL ad. They look VERY interesting....I might just have to copy them!

Never seen them but the design looks simple. A bracket lagged or bolted to the post and a channel welded to that with a flat end cap.

EDIT< now I see the slide show, a bit different than I thought.

Those look real nice as a turn-key solution. $80per is reasonable for their work-product but one could pretty much do the same with a 2x6s or 2x8s bolted thru the post in a similar fashion, if you aren't putting a ton of weight on the shelf. Or use a piece of plate steel in the same way for more load capacity.

I really like the look of the thing. The U-bracket would allow through-bolting if you want. It looks like three of them would support twenty foot of shelf and would appear to support quite a bit of weight. I wonder what a P.E. Would say about loading the posts this way (if loaded heavily).

The posts primary way to resist being pulled down is based on what they have in the ground. Whatever that may be. that varies from building to building.
