No one is crucifying you because you got a good deal. They are stating their opinions, which I find to be pretty good ones. Wait until someone comes to your small engine shop, asks you to do something, then after you do it, tell you they found somewhere cheaper and to take your stuff off. Then you'll understand what everyone is saying. It's not right to use people, you're young and haven't experienced everything, but what goes around comes around...

Well then if im not getting paid there not getting their machine back simple as that. Your talking about two different things here. Sears who has screwed more people than is imaginable or a guy doing honest work for a good deal.

Sears screws more people than can be imagined? Funny, people have the same opinion about mechanics. So, by your logic, it's OK to rip off a mechanic?

This is pretty comical that you think you are owed something because they have "screwed" other people.

Kind of reminds me of the people who believe they are "owed" my tax dollars because their ancestors were slaves.

You can rip off whoever you want. I dont care. Im an honest mechanic. and sears is a dishonest company my family has been lied to many a times about appliance shipments and receiving damadged goods and having a hell of a time returning them. This is my decision and there nothing any of you will do to stop it.

Perhaps stores should accept used functional tools, and give you partial value, and then resell it at a profit. Would probably diminish the online market though.

**** it up and stop being such a selfish child will ya. I'll tell you right now if your morals are worth such a trivial amount of money you're low, mechanic or otherwise, you're low. I've worked in retail and dealt with that BS a lot. Never met one idiot trying to rent tools on the stores dime i'd give the time of day to. What it boils down to, regardless of how trivial, is theft.

Not really that different, a chainsaw is easy to pick up and walk away. What are you going to do about? Assault the guy? Then he can come up with the same lame excuse you did and you can settle it in small claims courts. I'm sure you'll find another way to respond, but it is the same thing. You paid for something, used it, and want to return it because you found something cheaper. You've made you're decision, looks like we've made ours. Just wait for it, you'll be on the other end sometime and it won't feel so great. Good luck in your future endeavors!

I have to say that since you used them and they "saved your ***" you should indeed keep them. The "higher" price you paid was for a lifetime warranty and the convenience of getting them "RIGHT THEN"

Had you just purchased them, not used them, and then found a better deal later, I would agree, return them and buy what you would rather have for what ever reason.

But you were in a pinch and bought them, used them and they did the job. I would assume you charged the customer for the carb. rebuild and that should pay for the tool. Now you have them for the next time.

If you had ordered them on Amazon you would have had to wait a few days.

We sometimes don't think that a "brick and mortar" store can't compete with the pricing on the internet. We have to pay for the convenience. It's no different than when we buy pop, chips, etc, at the local convenience store. You generally pay more for that convenience.

Just my opinion.

I'm just thankful I live far enough away from PA that none of my equipment will ever cross the threshold of your shop.

It doesn't matter how much of an "honest mechanic" you claim to be. Returning a used tool for a refund is unethical. Since it was used in your business, this makes you an unethical businessman. I do my best to avoid dealing with unethical businessmen.

If you really want to stand behind your decision, you should post the name of your shop, so those who disagree with your business practices can avoid it.

You're a fool, a cheat, a scammer, and scum for all the "legitimate" reasons on why you'll wind up returning the tool.

I've said my piece and now I'm going to wash my hands of this thread and you. Thanks for giving me a reason to add someone new to my "ignore" list.

LOL...karma will come back at you.

I smell troll.

:+1:

A troll is someone who begins posting to a newsgroup or other sort of online community with the express purpose of disturbing the community, usually by posting items such as how terrible [something] is, and posting so often that their posts overwhelm the regular posters. --Donna E Cromer, Associate Professor, University of New Mexico, USA

It would be very good if everyone stopped posting in this thread. Nothing productive will come from keeping this at the top.

This, and staged car crashes, etc cause higher prices for honest consumers. I am surprised and happy that so many on this forum find your actions dishonest. I'm guessing that your dad had lots of kids, from the amount of used returns I see on clearance at Sears. Did you really think we were going to "High Five" you?
