Hi All,

Just picked this up in an antique store. Thought it was home built but now I think it was designed this way. Any ideas?

That one might be homemade, as I don’t think I have seen any with a hex or octagon shape. I have one of the big fat square shaft ones, and one with ears somewhere, but no hex.

Not in Smith, Irwin or Made in Germany that I have seen.

Thank for info. I looked and did not see any makers names or marks on it. It is pretty crude but it s beefier than an Chinese made screw driver I have ever seen. There are lots of nicks and marks from use all over it. Just thought it was a neat looking older screw driver.

Irwin made a lot of that type. I just bought a NOS 16 1/2 inch Irwin on ebay for some reason.

I don't know what I'm going to use it for but I've always thought this type was cool.

I REALLY need to stay off ebay.

I vote for homemade or shop made.
Commercial made have 'pockets' for the wood 'scales' or 'slabs' or whatever the handles are called.
