I was intrigued by this tool box system in Louisville today at the National Farm Machinery Show. Took a couple of pictures and I thought I was share.

I met the inventor and was impressed that someone is still trying to innovate in a mature market - go capitalism and hope he makes it!

First thing he needs to do is scrap that website. It's so "neat/cool" that you can't find a dang thing! Honestly, it ruined the whole deal for me! He needs to lose that quick.

I'm assuming the drawers swivel out versus pulling out on rails..which looks interesting.

I totally agree, do something with that website ! I didn't even bother to wait for all that **** to load. Why can't people keep it simple ? Really.

Interesting design, more aesthetic than functional unfortunately. It seems like a lot of wasted "drawer" space for a given box's footprint because it's got to be rounded to clear as it swivels.

Are there any advantages the guy touts over a typical box? :headscrat

+1

I gave up on finding out why the swivel out was more advantageous.

Not sure how they could take much of the market when people are looking for more space for tools, the curved drawers are losing quite a bit of space vs. a standard drawer

are you guys on dialup? page loaded in about 7sec for me.

It wasn't that it didn't load up... Its just that I am not 14 and thus not impressed with razzle dazzle intros.... I want specs, materiels, price, colors and for it to tell me why It is better....

That website blows and is very annoying, he's screwing himself with that "fancy" website.

I'm guessing the only advantage it has is there are no drawer slides to wear out over time and sag or bind. Also assuming that building costs may be lower as well although I have no idea what the price is on this thing. If the strength is there and at a fraction of the cost of another high end box, you might be able to overlook the lost space due to the curved drawers. Not too thrilled about the design, but I think its one that could grow on me if the price is right.

Sometimes Flash animators just don't get it. The "Skip intro" button is hidden offscreen on the bottom right on all but the largest screens. You have to hunt through the stupid animations and beeping only to be frustrated when you can't find prices and have to contact the manufacturer for real info.

Concerning the design: The swinging drawers rely on a single support pivot. If you stored heavy items-- hammers and air tools come to mind-- at the end of the drawer opposite the pivot, the weight would act like a lever on the pivot and seek to warp the cantilevered drawer. While the concept is clever, I don't see it as an improvement on existing double slide drawers.

Ill give the guy credit for trying something new and different. I don't think it would be much use to me. Thanks for posting it Carder.

Doesn't seem like it would be much cheaper, if cheaper at all. Looks like a lot of material used on the drawers from how thick the drawer sides look in the pictures.

In person, they appeared well built and he said they are made in Canada. I could see the corner cabinet being filling a niche if you were tight on space, but agree with most other comments especially the awful website.

I get internet from my cable TV and while the pages do load quickly I do find that website annoying to navigate and run.

It is a shame they don't build a box with traditional slides, those boxes seem to be extremely heavy duty. They seem to be wasting allot of available space just to be different.

Woah. I haven't seen Flashturbation like that in a decade.

Not sure the drawers add anything, aren't most tools straight?, but I do like the caster system, the only other box I know of with something similar is so expensive that only the five richest kings of Europe will own them:

I made it a few seconds into the blond gal's speech.:spit:

Looks like they're trying to reinvent a product for a market that doesn't exist. Waste of time IMO. Of course I may have a different opinion if I was actually able to see some specs and up close pics........wow, that site *****.

I hereby nominate that website for "Crappiest-Dumbest-Most Annoying Website of the Year".

But how would you know how to use one of those new fangled interwebsites without her to give you instructions ?

I'm compu-literate enough to find the site, so why not let me navigate the site in peace, without all the stupid-fancy ****. Pics-specs-price-advantage, that's all most people on GJ want to know, me included.

I've seen some of those types of design in kitchen cabinetry. That pull out shelf from the side if that's what it is:headscrat

Sites like that actually make me angry. My IT guys are not allowed to mention adding flash to our site or they have to listen to me rant about how much I hate it. Every once and a while they have an idea they feel is worth listening to my rant about and mention it.

Next month we are actually adding a very small flash "feature" VERY SMALL -but not the whole site.

However I will suffer through that site and get more info on their product after I have had another cup of coffee. He may have some interesting ideas or products and I will always take a few minutes to explore North American Made products regardless of how truly awful there website is.

Hello All,

Thank you for all of your comments. We had a very positive response at the Farm Show in Louisville. We are aware of our website blunder and we will actually have a new website up by March 8, 2010. For those who believe space is lost, if one were to compare an identical width unit with sliding drawers you would have to include some structure in the middle to mount the sliders to. This is space that we gain however we do lose some with the curve so it is virtually a wash. Additionally, it is very easy to access the whole drawer, even the back. The inventor was constantly having trouble with his sliding drawers in his shop due to grinding dust. Also the heavy CNC dies would cause the drawers to sag and not operate propely over time. This design he came up with eliminated his problem with the grinding dust and with 14 gauge drawers the heaviest of dies would not cause sagging. Due to the nature of the design, even with heavier weight towards the outside of the drawer the two main tubes coming off of the hinge are more than able to pick up the load. There is also so little friction lost to the hinge that it still operates very easiliy even when loaded with wieght.

I get that this won't be for everybody, but for those who for whatever reason have grown frustrated with sliding drawers, we offer a very viable alternative. Thank you all again for the comments. We are listening and I hope that for those of you who gave up on our webite, you will check back in a couple of weeks to see our new, improved and simplified website.

Just wanted to add that I got a nice email from Mike from Swivel pro. I had emailed him earlier letting him know that his product was being discussed on this board and that we had problems with the website. Look forward to seeing the new website when its up.

That's a good point

So nice to see a manufacturer that is aware of the potential customer base.

Thanks and we will be at Big Iron this September. One of the features on our new website will list the trade shows that we will be attending.

Interesting design but website does ****. Nice that the manufacturer is on here. Welded construction does look very strong. More info on dimensions on website would help.

Swivel, Pro, thanks for chiming in and the explanations make sense.

This is a tough, no holds barred crowd who take tools and storage very seriously.

Glad your skin is a little thick, you'll need it.

While I have never had slide problems from weight, body dust in a body shop kills slides. I also have found access to the rear of deep drawers difficult, so you definitely have some good selling points.

Welcome and keep us posted and join in the discussions. You can learn a lot from this bunch!!!

It's great they they want to change the website; I haven't seen one that bad in a long time. Sadly, I'm guessing it was expensive. I hope that didn't take too much money away from important things.

A friend of mine has a similar cabinet next to his mill. It works really well in that situation, because you can have two drawers open at once.

I like it. I hope it can be built well and priced in the range for working guys to be able to buy one. And yes, I know how difficult that is.

Best of luck.

Hello all,

I haven't been on here for a while but I thought I would just quickly follow up to metnion that we have our new website up. We still have a few more features to add to it over the next month or two however I hope that you will agree that it is a huge improvement over our previous site. We appreciated your feedback before and it certainly helped us realize that we needed a new website sooner rather than later.
