Interior walls OSB,Drywall etc….

Hi All. I am new here and I am sure this subject has been beet to death but I need some help ASAP.

I am ready to install the walls and ceiling of my garage (32’x40’x12'ceilings) l but I just can’t decide what I want.
To help with costs I am going to do all the work myself.

If you have any pros and cons on this subject I would really appreciate it.
BTW You guys have some really nice stuff and pics would be great.

I am doing the same thing in the near future. I am going to use some plywood I think around the bottom 4 feet of the garage. I wont have to tape and spackle.
ply wood wont swell up like mdf or many of the "particle" boards out there.

I will have a short ledge/ shelf just on top of that. from there I will probably sheet rock, making sure I put nailers at the right height so I can hang cabinets where needed.

I might also put some of that waterproof bathroom board over it so I can seal it and wash the car in there with out worrying about getting the walls wet. Its easy to wipe down, and won't mildew or rot. Its light colored so it will carry light well.

I wont have to worry about opening the car door and hurting the walls and I wont have to worry about running a jack handle or pallet jack through the sheetrock down low.

Prefinished paneling can be glued directly to sheetrock, as well. Makes a real quick installation and a solid wall but is hell to repair/replace. I kinda like the idea of the textured tub surround stuff. Tough, waterproof and never needs painting. Made of fiberglass and fairly cheap. I'd lay a full sheet on it's side and use the factory joining "H' strips for the vertical seams and a painted 1X4 for the top and bottom edges

Me too, except I didn't do the texture. No rail on those stairs? My inspector would have a cow.

I am in the Process of building a DYNO Cell in my shop. It will be a double wall construction on a 2 x 10 sill. The inner wall interior wall will be Floating 5/8" sheetrock over 1/2" plywood. The outer wall will be 5/8" MDF on the Dead air space side/ with 5/8" Firerock on the outer exterior wall. I will post a JPG of the plans when I get home from work tommorow.

OVERKILL: Yep. Still trying to track down some lead sheets to line the plywood

I'm not sure what the codes are around here but you can find lots of stairs without rails going into basements, garages and the like...
