International tech from Omaha, NE

Hey there. I stumbled upon this site after doing a google search on how to remove Snap-on toolbox drawers. I fix International trucks for a living (mostly engine and electronics work), and Im a certifiable tool addict. Cant wait to start checking out this board!

Fist pic is my work box, Matco 4 series, nothing special. The other 2 are of the snap-on box I just got and am going to restore. Another tech was spray painting it black when I caught him. I traded him my practically new $100 Waterloo cheapy, and a couple socket rails for this box. Its in very good shape and the metal is nearly perfect!

Thats a long story involving lots of corrosion on a valve cover bolt. I ended up having to cut the bolt out. Ive got some close ups too.

I spent about an hour cleaning aluminum out of the intake ports....

Former international tech here too.That injector avatar is awesome.I'm with the local electrical utility now.We just purchased the new Service Maxx software so I may try to pick your brain now and then since we didn't get any literature/training with it.Learning it as I go.

Will do. I havent done too much with it myself though. Weve hardly had any new engines come in for major problems. The only thing Ive had to do so far was one came in for no ICP, it had faulty IPR. They are a PITA to change on the new engines. It also had a blown out screen... problems to come????

How are you with the electircal system's on a 2007 4900 with a dt466 e having issues was at the local dealer 3 month's over a $1000 bill and acted up before it was back to the shop

About once a week the pto stop's working 1/2 of the instrument cluster and the a/c compressor looses power the differantal lock light comes on even though it's not locked.both the unit's we have this model year did it when new the dealer fixed them then after the first of the year there was a recall on a module when that was done the problem returned on one of the unit's as it's still under warranty we have not realy done any thing with it. the first time they said it was a bad terminal and programing but wouldnt say witch wire! the tran's is an Allison world auto tran's we do have md tech and the body program on our laptop so i can pull codes if needed

Some more info i forgot to put above the PTO drives a under body air compressor and a Generator it has a work body installed by ABC ( yea i know HACK"S)

Wow thats a strange one. You mentioned you had the body program, do you mean Diamond Logic Builder? If so, check for any codes in there.

Welcome aboard, I am from north central Iowa... been through omaha many times....
that snap on box looks to be similar to mine... mine is a kra59 from 1971... I bought mine at a consignment auction about a month ago for $130...

feel free to ask any questions regaurding restoration of yours.. there are many well informed people that will give pointers around here

Very nice. Yours has a considerably better finish left on it. The drawer removal article already helped a ton. Ive got it all torn apart, and Im borrowing a sand blaster this week for it

if you have not already, you might consider taking some pics of the restoration process...

the pic of my box were taken in the back of my suv before unloading... everything was exactly as I bought it... I did do some minor cleaning and slight lubing of the slides, just wish I could find the correct handle for the front cover... not available through S/O any more... picked up the next newest one availble, it is to long for the holes and has a squared handle rather than the rounded one like yours.... oh well, good thing it is my home box and does not get closed lol

Yea that's the program i couldnt remember the name last night if i get a chance tomorrow ill check for codes

I would put the log in the gereral tool section... good luck finding the correct handle... the closest one my so guy found was about 3/4" or so to long... bummer...you might consider placing a wanted add for the emblem... possible someone might have one.... anyway, later
