Hello all, first post.
I'm amazed at the collective knowledge on this forum.
Flooring decision in front of me.
I have a 19' x 18' garage used specifically for parking cars. I work on my cars in the driveway. Floor is subjected to rain and winter slush.

I have a peeling painted floor. I used RollerRock, and it is failing after 3 years.
There is a fairly significant expansion joint down the center of the floor.

I have narrowed my fix choices to two:
1. Race Deck:I purchase and install FreeFlow tiles over existing floor.
Cost: 950.00
2. Garage Kings: Franchise operation with a local presence. They would remove failing paint, level out expansion joints, and apply their 100% Flake Floor. 21 year warranty
Cost: 2,500.00

I really like the look of RaceDeck from the samples I've received.
I met Garage Kings at a home show and their product looks great as well.

Has anyone faced this decision between these two options?
I'm OK with paying more for option 2 if it's the best approach.
I want this to be the last time I have to deal with the floor.

Sorry to be a bit long winded on my first post, thanks.

Do you work on cars? Will you be spilling chemicals on the floor? Will you be washing cars inside? If I were you, I wouldn't do either one :) .

6 years ago I have spent $2800 on my epoxy floor. I consider that to be one of the biggest mistakes I've made as far as flooring choice. It was okay for about 2 years. I've been working on cars a lot and it has taken some beating, but in my opinion it has not held up well at all. What I hate the most about it is staining and discoloration. If you are not planing to use your garage, and all you want to do is park your car there, then it may work for you. For me, never again. First, I spent money to have it put in, and now I will have to spend money to have the epoxy removed.

Personally, I'm trying to decide if I should go with porcelain tile for durability, or SwissTrax to assist with water drainage from washing cars and melted snow. As far as making a suggestion for you, if you don't mind possible epoxy discoloration over time, give it a shot, but based on my experience I would not do it again in my house. I'd look at SwissTrax over Race Deck simply due to the fact that tiles are bigger and they have water drainage channels. Either way, good luck. :)
