Hi everyone,

Been a lurker for a while but thought I'd introduce myself.

My wife and i will be moving in a couple months. We will be buying a house on at least a half of an acre and my number one priority will be to build a detached workshop.

The size will be a minimum 20' x 20' but hopefully a 24' x 32' will be in the budget. I am looking at several options from conventional stick built to a pole barn to a steel frame building.

Since I will be spending a considerable amount of hours a day in my shop working on my hobbies, it will have to be very well insulated and have cooling and heating.

Regards,
Tom

Welcome to the forum from Canada, where we need heating and cooling too.

You will get more topical help if you put your rough location in your profile.

Welcome to the forum from Southwestern California.

Not knowing where you intend to build makes it tough to give you relevant advice.

Welcome, I am new here too, sounds like you have a blank canvas to do what you want with. I bought on a similar sized lot three years ago. The original plan was to do a detached about 28' x 38', but ended up doing an attached oversized 3 stall because of zoning restrictions and some landscape and aesthetic concerns. Happy with the result, but would have loved the extra space. Hope your results stay closer to the original plans.

Welcome from Southern Ontario . We're all looking forward to you sharing your build on here . and as said above, a rough idea of your location in your profile can help when you ask questions
