just saying hey, im new here. Been working out of a 2 1/2 car garage thats attached to my house, for about 8 months. Before this i was working out of a small fab shop i had built in the basement of my old house (it was in the city, no garages and on street parking)
i mostly build and fab stuff for early model harleys (pre 84) but ill work on anyhting of a friends.
fabbing with the basics at the moment
- small lathe
- tig, mig
- oxy torch
- small belt sander
- lots of hammers and dollys
- tubing bender
i mostly fab smaller things like handle bars and exhasuts, narrow gas tanks. but i've been working on making some dog bone style risers for small production. i need to upgrade my lathe at the moment, any suggestions? ive been using a 6" atlas for a while witha quick change tool holder and milling attachment. Seems small but ive been able to bore 1" into 1 1/4 mild steel, just takes longer than id like.
id also like to get a band saw soon as it would make my exhaust fab easier. i use a cut off saw now and the tolerances are fine for exhaust work but the band saw would be less clean up
okay thats enough from me for now, just wanted to introduce myself, oh and below is a quick picture of a build im just finishing up on.
