Hello to all from SE Iowa! Long-time lurker, finally had reason to join as I'm planning to build my garage this summer.
About me: Two years ago my wife and I bought our first home, a VERY run-down foursquare farmhouse on 2.3 acres. We are slowly rebuilding the house from the ground up (mostly gutting to the studs due to some severe problems caused by the previous owner) and trying to pay off our substantial student loans as I also put my wife through her doctoral program (she is a college professor). So money is tight, but enthusiasm knows no bounds!
Plans call to build an approximately 20x30 building on an existing foundation near the house (some sort of former farm outbuilding). It will be one storey with a loft in the shed roof, and a chicken coop off the back. I will start a new thread in the coming weeks and ask for help finding problems with my plan before it is built!
