So I'm walking through Wally World the other day, and they're selling a kit that you plug into you iPhone, that you can plug into your car and pull codes. Has anyone tried it? How well does it work?

It's just a cord that translates OBDII signals to a signal the iPhone will understand, assuming with an accompanying app. Those interfaces have been around a while. Not sure I'd purchase one from Walmart though.

It was $100. I realized it was just a cord, but the price was good. As for buying it from Walmart, why not? It's just a cord, it's not like it's a tool I rely on every day.

For $100 There are lots dedicated readers and I m guessing they are more reliable.

For $20-$50 - Maybe, $100- It better be pretty damn good considering your phone (which you already own) is doing most of the work. :(

The iPhone is a more powerful piece of hardware than a typical hand held scanner. It looked to me like you were able to access more info with the iPhone that you could with a scanner. That's why I was hoping someone here had tried one.
