I just threw away two “factory“ Iphone charger cords that were not reliable.

I'm looking for replacement cords. I see a lot of different models on Amazon but I’m looking for a brand recommendation.

thanks.

Are you sure the lightning ports just don’t beed to be cleaned?

I was having a hell of a time with the lightning port on an iPhone, and one I went in with pipe cleaners and a needle, and picked a bunch of lint out, the port started working well again.
This is probably the reason for some of the expensive lightning port cleaning kits on Anazon etc.
Cleaning the port does seem to be a necessity.
You may also need to blow it out with compressed air every day or so.

The best thing I ever did was switch from cords to wireless charging. I am about to get a wireless charger for the car (cup holder mount) as well. So much easier and more reliable, my kids always seem to destroy the cords and my phone port seems to get caked with junk which makes it not work well.

I’ve got the wireless chargers at my house & cars.

I use the hard wired ones when I’m traveling or at business meetings.

I use Anker for both IPad and USB C connectors. I buy flea market **** for those who abuse cords. Mine rarely get used while plugged in, except for the car in map mode, in the holder, to avoid motion.

Anker is all I use. The little USB C wall chargers, charge my 12 pro max pretty quick.

Brand wise I buy the anker heavy duty series now set of 4 or6 cost about $20 at bjs not sure Amazon. The cable is a lot beefier than the Amazon basic I used to buy, it is definitely better than the one that came with apple when they were supplying it.

I had the same issue with my work phone while other devices charged with no problem.
First I thought the charging port needed to be replaced but it turned out just to be some stuff in the port that was preventing the cable to fully engage and causing problems like you said.

I bought a 5-pack of "UNEN" brand, braided cords over a year ago. They work great and feel like pretty good (chinese) quality.

(Had to clip it, as Amazon no longer carries this brand, so the link to it is dead)

My original iPhone cord is working just fine after over 7 years of daily use on my 7 year old iPhone 7. (whew...that's a lot of 7's)
I plug it in every night, and always have.

Amazon basics for lightning. The new iPads take a USB-C so we have several of those multi head cables now.

None of them last forever

We buy the braided ones in quantity off eBay that seem to last the longest, as well as the “brand names”

When they quit pitch grab a new one.

I use whatever I like on Amazon at the time, garage has a 6’ silver braided line at the moment. I may upgrade to a 10’ one for google use when tinkering out there and put the 6’ one in the truck. Firm believer of charger cords wherever I can put one. I even also got a 10’ one in the RTT box.

All my Monoprice cables went sideways at about the same time, as did two of my chargers. That's when I switched to Anker.

ANKER or APPLE OEM………..there are ton of marginal cords in the market place across all brands and no-name. Same goes for the no name chargers as well.

🤔Don‘t pull on the cord is a hard concept to grasp of some……..😳😳😂😂😂

I like the kind where the Lightning end can be converted to USB-B mini by pulling off a tethered connector. That say my travel kit works with the maximum number of devices.

Here’s an example:

A plastic fork tine sanded down a little bit works good for cleaning a lightning port.

Lots of brands on Amazon are the same product. I've always gone with whatever was the cheapest with the best ratings.

Indeed, those ports need cleaning more often than one might expect. I often use a small strip of moderately-thick paperboard cut from some packaging — sort of adapted from the old-skool way of cleaning contacts on a mechanical voltage regulator or distributor points.

I used a tooth pick either the plastic ones with floss or just regular wooden or bamboo ones they fit perfectly. All you have to do is pick out the lint or dust, not scrub it hard

Charging port getting grimed up is a very common issue and easy to clean with a needle or paperclip etc. but the cords go bad about as often as buildup becomes a problem, ironically apple OEM cords are the worst by far in my experience, all the others I’ve had no matter how cheap lasted longer, but they all eventually start getting inconsistent where it stops charging if it’s moved the wrong way or has to be plugged back in repeatedly

Just bought an anker based on the suggestions, hope it works out as well as you all say 👍🏼
