I have been holding out getting a compact impact, and am I glad I did! Have not used it yet, but it is a nice little piece of IR work. Waiting on a boot for it, should see that next week...here's some pics next to some of my other air and cordless tools. This is my first IR quiet tool, and damn it is nice! Never got the whole quiet thing until now, now it may be my first choice in IR stuff. One down side is its COO is the dreaded China.

I'm also in for some performance reviews. I've had my eye on this one since they came out. I wish Marlin still worked for IR to give us the inside information. I am glad however he got hooked back into the air tool industry with PTP. Look forward to hearing him chime in on air tool threads.

Thanks, I've got one of these on my desk. While IR was late to the game, following the form and function of the Ti lineup was a good choice and created a comfortable tool.

Testing shows it to fall at the lower end of the current offerings out there with the higher torque models all using a single hammer mechanism rather than a twin. The upside of the twin is a little lower vibration.

Tried it out yesterday, took 3/4 2012 Forester calipers bracket bolts out, 4th one it could not. Don't feel too bad though, that 4th one wound up getting snapped by the 15qmax's older brother, the 2235!...so it must have been pretty rusted/loctited in.
What it did do was get to the top two bolts that the 2235 could not. I used it with the Snap On low profile swivels, and that is a sweet setup!

They are not THAT much lower than my Cman pinless, but they are a bit shorter, and in some case like brakes, it helps.

I went with the 35MAX, got it last week. Finally had a chance to use it today; Replacing a Rack and pinion on an 08 Sienna. All I can say is I'm really happy with my purchase. Lot's of power and tucks up perfectly between the sub frame and the body. Way easier to remove rack bolts, I love this little thing. Placed my order for the 15Q as well!

Years ago for the lower end impacts and things like die grinders and air ratchets. Very few products are assembled here, mainly their flagship products like the 2135 and 2235. All their cordless is made in China too. On the flip side it is a dedicated IR facility as opposed to handing production off the something like Zong-Jou air tool company and seeing the same tools with different colors in HF.

I think if IR was going to assemble it here using global components or make it here, they would have launched it that way with little American flags as part of the marketing. There's no real incentive for them to move production here.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a current model stubby impact that isn't made in Taiwan or the PRC.

Would you say the tq is close to what IR claims? Im after the 1/2 non-quiet. Thanks.

The 2115 is a great all around impact so it's hard to say. I'd like to see for myself.

It's the same unit, the 1/2" is the non quiet hence more power, same body, same size...
I have them both as well and to me the 3/8" is on the same level as my Milwaukee M18, no where the power of my old worn out 1st gen composite IR(can't remember the number off hand)
The 1/2" one is a screamer though, might have to remove the quiet from the new 3/8"

Time to get some updates now they have been out there a while. Which one do you have and how is the power? How much louder is the 1/2" model for those that have both?

I have the 35max. Very impressed very rarely do I pull out my 2135 any more.
The latest tire rotation I did last week, I used the 35max it took off all but 2 lugs both of which were beat to hell. I Had to hammer the socket on and use the reg gun to remove them..... I should say I have 120 gallons of air and our main line is 150psi thu 50 foot 1/2" reel. The system will run most of our larger tools at 120-125 psi wide open. Vs our 3/8" 125psi regulated lines for paint and small tools.

Thanks! Very helpful. I want the 15qMax as my main gun, but if I have to keep switching back to my 2135 (Q model) than I might as well save my money. Leaning towards the 15Q (quiet model) to keep the wife happy.
